Adults - Visitors

Club membership - status for for the Apr-Jul 2008 period

Colmers adult club remains full with a waiting list in place. However, in particular we are interested to hear from any ladies wishing to join us, and these will be given priority when the occasional place does become available.  Please e-mail Lee Machin if you wish to go onto the waiting list, and also for details of other clubs in the area who are looking for members (some of which are also based at Colmers L.C.).

The popular Sunday junior club based at Colmers (8-16 years) is now full with a waiting list in place, please email Phil Darlow to go on the list, and if you would like further information and an application form.

bullet At Colmers Farm Badminton Club we welcome visitors to come along to our Thursday club night. Please e-mail Lee Machin for any queries or further information.

This gives visitors the opportunity to play competitive badminton, find out about all aspects of the club and have a ‘taster’ before committing to becoming a full member.

Colmers Farm is a competitive club, playing league standard badminton, yet being friendly and sociable. Each season the club fields several teams in the local leagues, including mixed and mens. Home matches are played at Colmers Farm on Sunday evenings, with some fixtures on our Thursday club night. On the social side we have organised events, which have included Ten-Pin Bowling, Quiz Nights, Golf Days, meals and other organised nights out.

Our club night is every Thursday from 8.00 – 10.30pm where we have 4 courts available for adult players and an additional court for our Junior Colts. Membership fees are paid quarterly and there is a charge of £3.50 per week for non-members and visitors. For potential new members there is usually a short trial period of 3 weeks to ascertain suitability. We are interested in league standard players, but we are also interested in the less experienced player who shows potential and who is willing to receive coaching in order to bring their game on. The club has 4 qualified coaches who are available on club nights to advise, guide and encourage you to help improve your game: all you need to bring is enthusiasm !

Club coaches are always available on club nights for advice and help. They can also put together personalised training plans for those keen to improve their game. Occasional workshops are held on club nights covering various aspects of the game. These are free to club members.

Colmers Farm also has a small junior Colts section for the older juniors, usually from the age of 13 or 14 upwards. These juniors receive coaching on a club night. They also take the opportunity of playing with the adults for the first hour on a club night to help improve their game and increase their experience. It is important for the future of the club that adult members accept these youngsters on club nights, it is a key element in the future development and success of the club.

If you would like further information about any aspect of the club please drop Lee Machin an e-mail.
