Junior colts - history
The junior colts began in 1999-2000, when a small number of the older Sunday junior club members came along for a game. It soon became apparent that we needed a 'stepping stone' for children from the Sunday junior club to the adult club, and as such we fomalised the formation of the 'junior colts'. We now have a complete 'through route' from beginner (at the age of 7 or 8) to adult, whatever the standard.
The colts membership has been gradually increasing, and thanks to continued coaching the standards of players are improving significantly. The colts will form the backbone of the adult club in the coming years, so it is vital we nurture these players and maximise their potential. We have successfully entered teams into the local Cradley league, one of the few truly junior teams playing in this league (most of the teams comprise adults). The team successfully gained promotion to Division 3 in the 2003-4 season. The games have been tough, but excellent experience.
